Friday 5/17 Big Thompson River

These boots were meant for walkn'

These boots were meant for walkn’…we must have fished 8 different spots within the day.  These long-time friends had more energy than a school of tuna, they live and breathe in constant motion.  This was at the end of the day, and these two chose to walk to the next spot while I drove to relocate the truck.

Excellant day on the river, really far beyond normal. Flows were around 130 with increased flows throughout the day that created a decrease in clarity.  When the extra water showed up, so did some floating debris we had to dodge. The hot fly of the day was a simple pheasant tail.  Thank you ladies for wearing me out.  We hit it hard and came up with a big total on the day.  These gals had a lot of fly fishing experience, and with that disclaimer, I still can’t tell you how many fish we caught, it just wouldn’t be fair to the other trips.  These two are spectacular students.  I love taking women fly fishing as it seems no matter how experienced we are, there is always something to learn from the river.
