Aspen Pond 7/11 – Family Vacation

Today we went to Aspen Lodge Pond that has some nice size rainbows.  I shared the trip with Ryan and we took a family of 5.  Dry/Dropper rigs were producing fish in the morning with fish keying in on midge.  As the sun came overhead and the fish became less active we picked up all our fish on nymphs.   The most productive  nymph for me was a tube wrapped size 24 midge with a foam back body.  Unfortunately, we broke off the last one I had left…and back to the fly tying bench we go to make some more.  Tying flies during the season can sometimes feel like overtime work, but there is nothing more gratifying that catching fish on a pattern that I created.

Thank you so much Chad, we had an awesome time and the boys are still talking about the fish they caught. I have more pictures if you would like me to send them to you.

    • Ought, that’s O.K. Christy, I take pictures for you guys. I just like to have a couple to remember my clients and the experience. I’m glad we had a successful trip for all.
