8/16 Waterdale Ranch, Don and Drew

Don and Drew are repeat customers from the longhorn state.   Last time we fished the public water of the Big Thompson and Don caught his first trout on the fly rod.  This time we got to catch Don’s biggest fish on the fly rod.

When they arrived in Kirks Fly Shop, Don had a new Tenkara rod in his bag and I wondered if I made a mistake in choosing big fish in private water VS. smaller fish in the high country.  As you can see by the grins that stretch out my friends faces, we made the right choice.  We’ll fish the high mountain lakes next time guys.

At the end of the day, Drew even let ME catch one…that never happens.  It was also great to run into Drew, Don and the family while I was on my lunch break the following afternoon.   What a great family.
